"We follow the PBIS model for behavior expectations at Forest Glen Elementary School. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. It is a framework or approach for assisting school personnel in adopting and organizing evidence-based behavioral interventions into an integrated continuum that enhances academic and social behavior outcomes for all students." Forest Glen believes in rewarding positive behavior. We actively seek out students who are doing the right thing and give them a Timbertail Token. Each month, students have a goal of tokens to earn. The amount varies each month depending on the amount of days in the month. Students earn tokens for anything they do that is expected. Students earn tokens for getting their homework done on time, entering the classroom quietly, lining up quickly, working on assigned tasks, doing nice things for others, etc. Focusing on positive behavior, instead of negative, leads to more positive behavior. Should students decide not to follow classroom expectations, consequences are set in place through our minor/major referral system.
